REFLECTION FROM THE LIFE OF LATA MANGESHKAR - The Nightingale of India

Lata Mangeshkar -  The Queen of Melody.

As the world mourns the sad demise of the beloved daughter of India, let's take a look at the different life lessons that she passess on to the present and future generation. A woman of high regards for her country, a woman of obedience towards parents and a woman of responsibility towards her family has left all of us mesmerized with the way she handled her life being single in her journey of 92 successful years. Her loss is irreplaceable and will deeply be etched in everyone's heart.

She has beautifully led her life with all smiles and hardwork. The following are the few learnings from her life that we should ponder on to be successful:

  1. Believe In Yourself

Believe sounds strange to use for iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar ji. But this is the very first and best word to empower everyone of us with her life. After the death of her father, when she was stranded with no help and love to continue with her dream, it is only her belief in herself which has got her an abundance of laurels and to her country. Initially when she started her journey in singing and music, many people rejected her saying, 'her voice is so thin', it's not sounding melodious etc. Thou heartbroken but she never gave up on her dreams. She spent many sleepless nights in tears but she never gave up. She worked harder and harder and  practiced rigorously to develop her singing skills.

  1. Carry The Legacy

Lata Mangeshkar ji is the eldest daughter of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar  and Shreemati Shevanti Mangeshkar. Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar was a well-known Marathi theatre actor, a Natya Sangeet musician and a Hindustani classical vocalist. Lata ji was greatly inspired by the advice of her father, which states, 'When you sing you must think to yourself you will sing better than your guru'. She started her journey of learning music at a very small age of just 5 years. At the age of 13 she recorded her first song in 1942. And ever since, no turning back and the rest is history. She became the greatest sensation in india. She stood up to her fathers name and expectations and built a legacy of pure love and respect for singing.

  1. Sky's The Limit

Age has no bar for the queen of melody, Lata Mangeshkar ji. She believed highly in her own talents. Though she couldn't formally educate herself by attending formal school due to certain problems, she still managed to learn different languages like marathi, hindi, english, sanskrit and many more from her cousins and others at the convenience of her home. Education was never the barricade for her in accomplishing her dreams. She served her passion till her last breath. Life was not a bed of roses for her but she alone with her never give up attitude built a great name for her family. She has not only sung in Indian languages but has also given her best in foreign languages too. Perfection was the word she used to desire for in all her work.

  1. Simplicity Is The Beauty

The great lady who even after achieving such a great success, name and fame was very down to earth and simple in her appearance, be it in her personal life or in professional life. She sets a great example for today's youth that 'one should not be carried away with the growing name and fame but be dedicated towards the fulfillment of the passion, accomplishment of the dream and decorating the world with the word'. One's appearance, beauty and the attire we wear can perish but our work will always be remembered with our name. Salute to the great lady who just by wearing a simple saree and natural makeup has won millions of hearts till today that her voice will always echo in our ears

  1. Give Best In Everything

Lata ji was always crazy for perfection. She used to believe in perfection in the difficult task assigned to her. She took everything as a challenge but never gave up saying,It is not impossible or I can't do this. She was very careful about her diction and pronunciation of the lyrics of the song. She always had a habit of writing songs of different languages in English or Marathi so that she can easily practice it, be thorough with it and give 100% for it. She was a very lively woman who believed in herself that with practice and dedication everything is possible.

  1. Fight The Odds

Lata ji has defeated all the odd sayings which normally haunt a woman throughout her life. The saying goes like this: How will you live alone throughout your life without getting married? It's very difficult for a young woman. An unmarried woman has to face many wrong allegations from the society. But lata ji has fought all the odds out. She has proved to all of us that a single woman also can do mighty wonders and make her society proud. In the nine decades of her life she has been able to stand strong as a single woman and has empowered millions of women across the world. Grand salute to this lady who has taught a woman to believe in her talents, to be dedicated towards the work, to be in love with the work and to be the queen in everything. Fight the odds and win the battle.

  1. Make Your Country Proud

I am very sure that, whenever we recall the song 'Ae mere watan ke logo' on our national days, tears will roll down our eyes with pride and honor that we are the proud citizen of that country which has produced such an everlasting talent and a loving human being who has represented india in singing across the world and has won great medals and awards not only in India but also abroad. She has made India proud. She has made us proud. Hats off to her vigour, valor and vitality.

Lata Mangeshkar ji has left to the heavenly abode but she will always live lively in our hearts and her beautiful smile will still continue to win millions of hearts.
