With most states declaring offline mode for conducting the board examinations, there's a high level of insecurity and panic soaring among the parents and students. At this moment, we are frightened not only about our performance in the exam but also about our overall health due to the pandemic condition still prevailing in our midst.

Board examinations look like a monster to every student but remember that it is just another kind of examination that every student appears for. So, it's all in our way of thinking. By now most students would be ready to appear for exams with completion of portion, paper solving, mock tests and prelims.

Remember to avoid certain things before you appear for exam:

  1. Do not rote learn new chapters.

Following are some of the smart tips for SSC & HSC students, implementation of which will lead to greater success:

  1. Revise

Most of the students do not follow the proper pattern of cracking the boards in a simple and easy way and land up getting stressed with portions still lagging to be covered. The right approach should be such that one should only do REVISION prior to examination, but most of them still struggle to rote learn a few more left out  chapters or concepts. This creates more pressure on our brain and a feeling of 'Oops!! I don't remember that', 'I have forgotten the concept or steps of solving' piles in. So, Just sit calmly, and revise whatever you have studied a day prior to the exam instead of focusing on new things.

  1. Rest

Most students spend sleepless nights during the board examination and fall sick in between the examination schedule leading to poor performance in all the other papers as well. Complete sound sleep without stress is highly recommended for you to be active and energetic to write your exam in the time duration alloted for the exam. If you follow a proper REVISION pattern then it is bound that you won't be stressed much and get good sound sleep in the night and relax your body and mind.

  1. Recollect

After taking enough rest and sound sleep at night, the very first thing that a student should do is to try to recollect different concepts, steps, diagrams, important points, meanings, explanations etc without opening their books. Recollect different formulas, dates, tricks and tips that you might have used to remember certain concepts. By doing this a student will be confident enough that i know and remember whatever I have studied. But remember to recollect the things chapter wise to be more precise and clear.

  1. Rewind

While recollecting the certain concepts chapter wise or unit wise, you might come across certain concepts, formulas, diagrams and it's labelling, important keywords, step wise points etc that can't be recollected. At this point of time, a student needs to rewind that particular topic or answers from the reference book Or textbook. By doing this it will help the student to remember that specific topic or concept and retain it for a longer time and also will ensure to put emphasis on mentioning those points first with high priority while writing in the exam answer sheet.

  1. Refresh

After finishing the rewind process in a systematic and successful way, the student will now be 100% confident and prepared to appear well for the examination. Now, one just needs to refresh himself before entering the examination hall. Be silent, close your eyes and meditate for a minute. Take a deep breath. Drink water or refreshing lemon juice to keep you hydrated for those three hours of exam duration. If possible, eat lite food or snacks. And then enter the exam hall with full energy, positivity and a vibrant smile on your face. So REFRESH yourself before you enter your battlefield.

  1. Read

Most students after receiving the answer sheets fail to read the basic instructions written on it and land up committing mistakes in writing the basic information and candidate details which are essential to be filled on the answer sheet. Also, when the question paper is distributed, students just focus on the few initial questions and begin to write the answers to those without reading the entire question paper till the end. This is where students go wrong. The best practice should be to read the entire instructions on the answer sheets and the all sets of questions asked in the question paper. So that you can plan well and manage your time properly by giving justice to each section asked in the question paper. It will keep you aware of where you need more time for answering a specific question and give you enough time for proofreading and presentation too.

  1. Record

After reading the question paper till the end and managing time wisely for each section, now is the moment that you start recording your answers on the answer sheets. Be careful about this things while writing your answers:

  1. Mention section, question number and sub question in large font size.

  2. Remember to write the question in all block letters.

  3. Write answers specific to the question.

  4. Give an apt introduction and specific conclusion to the answers.

  5. Maintain the length of the answers to the limited words or marks allotted.

  6. Use a good quality ballpoint pen for writing.

  7. Wherever possible underline and highlight the important keywords.

  8. Draw clear diagrams with perfect labelling.

  9. Represent final answer in an elongated rectangular box with pencil (especially in maths & science problems)

  10. Last but not the least, Proofread your answers before submitting the answer sheet.

So, be ready for the battle. Use the smart approaches and crack board exam in a smarter way. Be cool and calm. And things shall pass smoothly without any more hurdles and stress.
