With the declaration of HSC or Grade 12 results, it's all admission spree that all students are worried about. With many having their own views and opinions in selection of the best college for graduation still few others just take it as a peaceful hangout place to spend some quality time in fun and frolic with their friends.
Many students fall prey to the fancy and attractive features of the surrounding and fail to choose the right kind of college for graduation. In this article I am going to enlist 10 important points which every student should keep in mind before applying for any college for graduation.
Accreditation & Affiliation
Accreditation is the recognition from an accrediting agency (Eg. NAAC). The goal of accreditation is to ensure that institutions of higher education meet acceptable levels of quality. Whereas Affiliation means when a college is officially attached or connected to an Organization or University For eg: A certain college named XYZ is affiliated with University Of Mumbai. The grades obtained from the accrediting agency are highly influential for shortlisting the college. Most of us get adjusted with any substandard colleges but keeping an eye on A or A+ grade colleges for pursuing graduation will definitely add a crown to your degree. So aim to get into a college which has the best grades.
Campus Recruitment
Most colleges do not arrange campus placements for all the desirable courses that it provides for the students and later it becomes a hard battle for the students to fetch good jobs in a reputed company. Hardly 5% of them make it to the reputed organization whereas others struggle in different private firms. So do remember to choose a college which provides enough rounds for campus placements so that you get a good start up as a fresher.
National & International Student Exchange Program
A student exchange program is a program in which students from a higher secondary school or university study abroad at one of their institution's partner institutions. The benefit of this program is that a student will experience a completely new way of life. Studying abroad will allow them to experience different cultures and perspectives, including new traditions and customs and meeting new people. So keep yourself updated about whether this special kind of facility is available or not in the college that you choose.
Campus Size
The campus size has a big role to play in before choosing a college. Isn't it? As a student, we generally wish to have a college with a spacious entrance, huge classrooms, beautiful garden area, an appealing lobby, a cooler waiting area, the best hangout place to spend time with our friends when we bunk our important lectures, and many more of such kinds. It has to be appealing to your eyes, as you will spend a minimum of 3 to 4 years in the same campus.
Location
Location plays a major role in our college experience. The state, the size of the city, and the local community, all impact our years at college. The location of the college also has an impact on the overall output of our behaviour, etiquettes, smartness and presentation when we pass out of it. So choose a college which will give you a wide exposure in terms of academics as well as in extracurriculars.
Research Programs
Depending upon the main course or subject that you choose, ensure to select a college which has better facilities for Research & development programs, research labs, research guides and overall growth in the same subject.
Courses Offered
Courses offered by the college should have a vast scope. Choose a college which provides plenty of options to you to decide the best suitable course as per your skills. Instead of just opting for the traditional plain courses, opt for highly specialized courses and simultaneously work upon the skill development too. Proper hands-on experience is very much essential to learn any particular course better.
Sports & Recreational Activities
Most colleges have facilities for sports and different activities related to recreation. A good ground, the best coach, competent players and affordable fees is prime in sports. Depending upon your choice or interest, select the college that will give you the best coach to learn from, and to perform better among the others and eventually help you to scale up high in lesser time.
Canteen
You believe it or not, a college canteen is one of the precious places that every college student would love to spend in. Most colleges do not have the best canteen facilities. It becomes very difficult for a student on the days when they come without tiffin, when the facility is not good. Many engineering colleges being located outside the proper city area adds more to the problem. So be wise in keeping this factor too in mind before selecting a college.
Self Preparedness
How much ever your parents or friends guide you or motivate you to join this or the other college by emphasizing on certain positive or negative points, it is truly our self preparation that matters the most. Because unless you are fit and happy to join a specific college, you will never be able to enjoy college life. So prepare yourself well before you finalize. Visit different colleges and its campus, then take your final call.
So, wasn't it helpful? Do remember these points before selecting any specific course for graduation.
